Grandvalira Resorts ski mountaineering regulations

REGULATIONS FOR SKI MOUNTAINEERING IN RESORTS

Mountain skiers must comply with the internal regulations of the resorts to ensure safety and coexistence on the slopes.

Main rules for mountain skiing

Access and conditions for practicing mountain skiing within a resort depend exclusively on the company managing each area, which sets the guidelines in its internal regulations, in accordance with the provisions of Law 21/2022, of June 9, on mountain resorts.

The following are the minimum considerations to keep in mind:

  1. Have a pass: In order to practice ski mountaineering at the resorts, you must have a valid pass to carry out the activity within the regulated areas of the resort.
  2. Respect the routes and schedules: In regulated activity areas, it is only allowed to ski on the designated routes or pistes and at the times set by the operating entity.
  3. Dogs are not allowed while practicing this activity.
  4. Uphill on piste: When ascending on ski slopes, users must always go up along one side of the piste, maintaining awareness of skiers coming down. If in a group, you must ascend in single file.
  5. Nighttime ascent: During nighttime hours, it is mandatory to descend at a moderate speed, to have a headlamp with a minimum output of 300 lumens, and to wear reflective elements.
  6. Downhill on piste: During the day: skiers must follow the International Ski Federation's code of conduct. At night: downhill must always be along one side of the piste, to preserve the work of the snow grooming machines.
  7. Respect the designated areas: In regulated activity areas, you may only travel in the zones authorized by the operating company and must follow the internal regulations.
  8. Unregulated areas: If ski mountaineering is practiced in unregulated zones, the resort does not take responsibility for safety or for possible rescues, nor does it perform maintenance or protection work in those areas.

Although it is a healthy and attractive activity, it requires responsibility and respect to avoid risks and conflicts on the slopes.
